Blue & White LOVE + Meringue Kisses...

A new passion has evolved...
It all started with a vintage tea party sized tablecloth in crisp white linen.
On the linen someone had lovingly stitched tiny dark blue crosses in pretty designs.
There is nothing in my home that is dark blue and white,
because I've always thought of myself as an 'aqua blue kinda girl!'
But I stood and admired this table cloth, and thought:
'OH YES - I think that I could love you!'.
And since that moment passed...
have acquired a few blue and white pieces of china.

Vintage of course!

To show you my new blue and white collectable treasures,
I made delicate wee meringues to complete the tea party.

When they had cooled I kissed them together with fresh vanilla flavoured cream.

Perfect with peach tea!

(Here's a little secret:  I have never ever made meringues before...
so the ones you see in the photographs are the second batch!
The first lesson was, to have the oven temperature on low as if it is too high,
your meringues go brown in a blink of an eye!)
Delicious, sweet meringue kisses...

melt in your mouth delightfulness,
looking like royalty with the blue and white table setting.

One must have flowers too...
and these miniature camellias in a tiny white jug brought a smile to the party.

A Little Shabby Mirror - Painted & Repurposed....

Take one little shabby mirror...
whose life purpose had been as wall décor in Mia Bella Passions homestead.
Then it became a mirror for the ring-neck parrot in his aviary for a long while,
was eventually returned to the back porch -
to the original wall décor status for quite some time more,
only then to be hidden away in a cupboard for many, many years!
But I have always been fond of this shabby little mirror...
I remember painting it blue...
Did I tell you I embraced the blue and yellow era with vengeance!
The house still has hints of it...eeeekkkk!
It never ceases to amaze me how personal taste in décor and styling evolves.
But this little shabby mirror has got a much needed facelift...
First a clean in soapy water...
once dry a touch up with paint.
I simply used a brush to paint on the creamy white colour, using the dry brush method.
A shabby chic slightly rustic kind of look to the finish was what I was after,
and it turned out fabulously...
New look - new life!
This little shabby mirror has been painted,
and is now repurposed as a mirror tray on the coffee table.
The scroll detail compliments the candle holder nicely.
A simple and sweet décor piece!

White Statice And A Little Shabby Love...

A garden of beautiful white Statice...
 Perfect for picking...
 Perfect for drying...
And to complete this garden vignette,
a little shabby bench seat...
= LOVE !

The Lavender Bedroom...

The next room to reveal in the house tour is the Lavender bedroom.

This room was painted lavender many years ago, and even though it is brighter than what I like in interior colours now, I just haven't been able to change it!

It is a peaceful and pretty room...

And in it as in every room in the house,
there is art in many forms.

Here you will find a whole lot of shabby, a little French,
and a whole lot of me!

This shabby trinket box was a $5 op shop find.

The lamp is a more contemporary, but I love the glass globes and metal on it.
This was a mere $30 in a Briscoes 60% off sale!

There is a DIY  padded fabric headboard.
The fabric is the same as the Roman blind on the window.

The duvet is French themed in lavender and white, and the pillow slips have beautiful lace edging.

Ya all know how much I adore aqua,
so it is no surprise that this colour is an accent colour for the lavender bedroom!

Pops of aqua everywhere!
;)

On the side of the shelf is a metal heart holder...
for photos, memories, and messages.

The furniture is reminiscent of the French Country look...
Painted in shades of white.

Here's a close up of some  of the collectables on the shelf,
birds...
and a vintage aqua vase that was a gift from a very special friend.

The shabby aqua birdcage
and gorgeous pastel coloured crystals.

A tiara and more crystals.

I'm a Bling lover - what more can I say!

A hand crafted stamped canvas...
instructions on how to create this here:

More bling...

A very old Japanese vase...

A heart collection, more art, and more sparkly, shiny things!
Plus an old oak chair that has been painted white,
and had the seat recovered in a purple floral fabric.

I'm quite fond of hearts...

And metal...

But then I'm quite fond of so many things.

Oh be still my beating heart!
There's more BLING!

The handcrafted heart was the first hand stitched pretty I have ever made.

And my friends certainly know what to gift me...
This heart is made of tin and handpainted.

The Lavender Bedroom is one of my favourite rooms...

Because it is full of my favourite things.
